Children's Storytime with Tales of Indie 📖

Did you know? If you read just ONE book to your child every day, by their 5th birthday they will have read 1,825 books! Now that is an incredible gift to your child.

I just love snuggling up under a blanket and enjoying a story with my children. At the end of a long day, freshly bathed and in cozy pajamas; we snuggle up in a routine as old as time. We read.

I have compiled a few of our family favourites and I dearly hope they will become favourites for your family too! What joy it brings to escape to another world through a book, after all, it is a lifelong gift to embrace a love of reading.

Without further ado, please enjoy our family's top three favourite children’s storybooks.

The Lorax by Dr Suess

“I am The Lorax, I speak for the Trees” – The Lorax This childhood classic gives me such nostalgic vibes! I remember reading this story many moons ago and I like to attribute part of my love for sustainable practices, to this wonderful book. The Lorax teaches children about the importance of caring for the earth and the fragility of the eco system. Read it in one sitting or over several days. Your children are sure to be immersed in the classic Suess style of illustration and unusual animals.

Love The World byTodd Parr

Bestselling author Todd Parr has a beautifully unique, simple storytelling method that I really enjoy. His books are always filled with such meaningful context but written in such a way that even the smallest of children can comprehend and enjoy. I especially love his trademark illustrations which are bursting with bold, bright colours. In this story, Todd expresses his desire for us to spread positivity, love each other and care for the world. This is an amazing message that every person should hear!

You Can Change the World by Lucy Bell

The title of this book already speaks volumes, without even turning a single page! This story is all about recycling, sustainability and becoming a world changer from the comfort of your  own home. I am reminded of the famous saying by Vincent Van Gough “Great things are done by a series of small things brought together”.
I love the way that the message is so direct, almost written as instructions for becoming a world changer! Your children will feel empowered to become world changers through simple actions.

These are just a few of our favourites. As my children grow and change, I know that our reading list will continue to evolve. I am so privileged to enjoy these quiet moments with them and I know that they will remember these moments too.

Now that I’ve inspired you to head to your local library, I would absolutely love to know what your families favourite books are! Happy reading.
